Patty Downing
Lead Designer and Owner
Patty Downing, a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), has been a prominent Interior Designer since 1980. Her previous career as an Intensive Care Nurse at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York refined her exceptional listening skills, which she brings to her design practice.
Patty is dedicated to community service, having served on the Library Foundation Board from 2001 to 2006 and as President from 2006 to 2008. She was also a Board member of the Lyric Theater from 2005 to 2021, including a term as President from 2015 to 2019. Additionally, she contributed to the Children’s Home Society Showcase from 2009 to 2012, serving as Lead Designer in 2009 and 2010.
With a diverse clientele, Patty has designed homes in Florida, Montana, California, Texas, and New York, showcasing her passion for both her community and interior design.
Missy Mortell
Interior Designer
With a robust foundation in art and design, Missy earned her B.A. in Art History from Southern Methodist University. Her professional journey spans from the Virginia Miller Art Gallery in Miami to Christie’s Fine Art Auction House, where she honed her creative prowess.
A longtime resident of Stuart, Missy is deeply engaged in the community. Growing up in Stuart and raising her family here has enabled her to actively support local charitable organizations as well as The Junior League and The Pine School.
Missy infuses every project with enthusiasm and a keen creative sensibility. She approaches each endeavor with thoughtful consideration, crafting elegant and timeless designs tailored to meet the unique needs of every client.
Kathy Sue Jacobus
Interior Designer
Kathy Sue is renowned for her distinctive fusion of design expertise and unconventional creativity, showcasing an eclectic style intertwined with deep community involvement. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Social Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, she complements her academic background with a strong foundation in Interior Design. Her career journey spans diverse sectors, including real estate and retail, where her singular perspective consistently stands out.
Her significant role as a designer for the Tykes and Teens regional headquarters highlights Kathy Sue's commitment to making meaningful contributions. Beyond her professional endeavors, she is deeply involved in community initiatives, including her founding role in the Junior League of Martin County.
Each project Kathy Sue undertakes is infused with her personal flair, unwavering passion, and a profound commitment to making a positive difference.
Glenda Toney
CEO and Office Manager
With 30 years at the firm, Glenda Toney has excelled in various roles, becoming our CEO and Office Manager. She and Patty run the business with a family-like approach, grounded in their strong friendship.
Outside of work, Glenda enjoys sculling, swimming, baking, designing projects, sewing, and monogramming. She is also an avid college football fan.
Nicki Coleman
Bookkeeper
Nicki Coleman has been an essential part of PDI for the past six years, known for her exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. She manages Accounts Payable and Receivable, ensuring smooth financial operations.
Outside of work, Nicki enjoys spending time with her family, reading a good book, and spoiling her golden doodle Penny.
bailey cooper
Designer Assistant
Bailey has been with PDI for two years, bringing efficiency and creativity to the team. She assists designers with sourcing materials and ensures quality work and positive client experiences. Bailey also produces proposals that meet the needs of designers, clients, and the administrative team.
In her free time, Bailey enjoys exploring various art forms, birding with her husband, and baking gluten-free treats.
Nureen Zaida
Designer Assistant
Nureen plays a key role in managing essential office tasks, including processing purchase orders and creating proposals for our designers. With years of experience in various office roles, she brings strong attention to detail and a commitment to efficiency.
Outside of work, Nureen enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach, painting, practicing henna tattoos, and cherishing moments with her family.
